Artist's Comments
This 'Three flags-italian version' was inspired by the artwok 'Three flags' (1958, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York) made by Jasper Johns (example pic at [link]).
Johns' artwork is known in all over the world as a powerful example of the american pop art. I love pop art, and this is my tribute to it. And to my flag, too. I know this is not a particularly original work, and that's the challenge... If you do something not so 'original', it's the technical side of your work that is judged by people... I tried to create the most realistic 'flag over flag' effect as possible. I tried also to render the brush strokes on the 'canvas', and finally I put a natural light source above it. It's an all-photoshop-made multilayer, with 80% jpeg compression... ...and I'm quite proud of it... So, be gentle and give a comment on it... I need all the support you can give me... |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. Because.... you placed the three flags of Italy in a certain -greatest (if I may say)- composition that makes the middle look exactly like this Columns in the Enchant roman forum in Rome!
